Bolgatanga, Nov. 29, GNA – Media XI on
Thursday, beat a combined Police football team to lift the 2018 Police
Awareness Week Celebration Cup in Bolgatanga.
The match, which ended in a one all draw, saw the media opening the scores in the 20th minute, through its striker Moses Apobona of the YEM Radio morning show team.
The Police, did not relent and were never intimidated by the mid-half goal against them and mounted extreme pressure on their opponents to secure equaliser.
They passed accurately, possessed the ball and tactically drove their guests on power and speed and equalized in the 35th minute.
The match ended one all for the rest of the first half and continued into full time where the two teams ended on penalty kicks, with the Media team converting their kicks successfully, whilst Police failed.
Handing over the trophy to the Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr Eric Kwadjo Amoh to the victors, the Deputy Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr Paul Ayitey called for more collaborations between the Media and police to strengthen security in the region.
He said the pace setting involving the two institutions was the best considering roles both play in ensuring that the citizenry were informed and protected.
He called for more collaborations and friendliness as both the Police and Media were indispensable institutions in building a free and peaceful society.
For his part, Mr Amoh expressed gratitude to the police for the collaboration and indicated that the partnership that had just started should continue in order to strengthen the relationship.
