Kwame of the Tafo Golf Club returned a gross score of 146 to win this year’s
Tema Open Golf Championship which ended at the Tema Country Golf Course on
He was followed by Kofi Yeboah with 147 gross, Felix Antonio came third with 149 gross, Prince Agyiri placed fourth with 153 gross while Daniel Affum took the fifth position with 158 gross.
In the Handicap Group ‘A’ category, Jimmy Thorne came first with 143 net, John Lakpo took the second position with 145 net, beating Matthias Dorfe on count-back while Hans Kyei Mensah placed fourth with 150 net.
In the Group ‘B’ segment, Peter Brako came first with 81 net, Eben Ayanful took the second position with 164 net while J.O. Kuntoh placed third with 165 net.
Jessica Tei emerged champion in the Ladies event with 154 net, Grace Afriyie came second with 154 net, while Mercy Werner placed third with 159 net, beating Flora Hutubise on count-back.
Joshua Peperah won the Seniors event with 81 net, while Kwabena Boakye came second with 82 net, beating Sam Opoku on count-back.
Kwame Ligbidi won the Professional’s category with 69 net, beating Peter Amenyo on the sudden-death rule while Akato Komla placed third with 71 net.
The two-day 36-Hole Scratch event opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country was sponsored MTN Ghana and EMEFS Constructions Limited.
Nana Dr Ann Agyei, Captain of the Tema Country Golf Club, commended the golfers for their sportsmanship exhibited throughout the games.
He urged them to take active interest in the activities of the Club to help promote the game into an international standard.
Mr David Sena Hadzi, Human Resource Manager of EMEFS Construction gave the assurance that his company would continue to support the promotion and the development of the game in the ensuing years.GNA
