Koforidua, May 30, GNA - The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Julius Debrah, has called on journalists to protect the ethics of their profession and be bold to stand by the truth.
He was speaking at a seminar organized by the Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association(GJA) to commemorate World Press Freedom Day.
He urged journalists to protect their professional image and be proud of their profession.
Madam Jane Kwapong of the Women’s Department of the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, appealed to the media to exercise restrain when reporting issues on rape.
She said such reports should not lead to the disadvantage of the rape victims.
The Eastern Regional Chairman of GJA, Mr George Larbi, urged media practitioners to conduct themselves well to gain the respect of others.
He assured of the readiness of the media in the region to cooperate with the Regional Coordinating Council to implement the three thematic areas that it had chosen to promote for the economic development of the region.
