Anum Apapam (E/R), Jan. 30, GNA - A sixty nine year old ex-Police Officer, Nana Asare Okai I, has been enstooled as Jantuahene of Anum Apapam at Anum Apapam in the Ayensuano District.
Nana Asare Okai was known in private life as Kwadwo Asare Okai.
At his outdooring ceremony, Nana Asare Okai expressed concern about the high rate of child labour in the area and promised to get in touch with the chiefs, opinion leaders, the assembly members and unit committees to address the issue.
He expressed appreciation to non-governmental organisations engaging parents over the issue.
Nana Asare Okai said he is not happy with the high cost of customary marriage, which is discouraging the local men from marrying and promised to liaise with the stakeholders to help reduce the cost.
He called on communities in the area to form neighborhood watch dog committees to check the activities of illegal miners and help reduce crime.
Nana Asare Okai advised traders, to be wary of microfinance companies, which collect money from people with the promise to give them loans and end up running away with their cash.
