Accra, Feb. 28, GNA - Apostle Samuel Akuamoah
Boateng, the Madina Area Head of the Christ Apostolic Church International, has
called on women to aspire to higher positions, especially the decision-making
level, to promote good governance.
He said since the number of women at the decision-making levels was minimal, they were often not able to make the needed impact.
Apostle Boateng made the call at the end of this year’s convention of the Good Women’s Ministry of the church at Madina on Sunday.
The four-day-convention was on the theme; “When a Woman Moves, Something Happens.”
Apostle Boateng said the few women who found themselves into such positions were often intimidated and harassed in various ways by their male counterparts, therefore, making their work difficult.
He said there was the need for a massive approach to enlighten women on their right to participate in politics.
“They should be educated so that as mothers they could in turn educate their children,’’ Apostle Boateng said, adding that interest in politics could also be created at the tertiary level where the females could be encouraged to contest for positions of responsibility.
He appealed to women to be more cautious of their role in the protection of the environment adding; “as women who deal more in the domestics, you must ensure that our surroundings, water bodies and lands are clean and free from degradation’’.
He called on the female students to desist from all forms of negative practices and take their studies seriously to enable them to achieve their future aspirations.
Mrs Diana Nortey, the Madina Area Leader of the Good Women’s Ministry, urged women to develop interest in political positions to enable them to be at the forefront of decision-making on issues that affected their lives and their children.
She called on women to be advocates of environmental protection in their various communities to save lives and also take up leadership roles to create opportunities for self-improvement.
Mrs Rebecca Emi-Reynolds, the Territorial Leader of the Ministry, said the ministry had been offering assistance to widows and had been supporting orphanages over the years.
She appealed to the youth to dress properly and avoid exposing their bodies which serves as the vessel of God.
