Beppoh (W/R), Oct. 31, GNA - The Western Regional House of Chiefs on Tuesday visited Reynolds Construction Company Limited and appealed to the company to speed up work on the 94.4- kilometer road from Tarkwa through Bogoso to Ayanfuri.
The project, which begun in 2011, was initially slated to be completed in two years time but the company now says work would be completed in December 2015.
The company made this known to a delegation from the House led by its President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwamena Enimil V, the Omanhene of Wassa Fiase Traditional, when it visited the company™s site at Beppoh in the Prestea Huni/Valley District to find out why the project has been delayed.
Accompanied by some of the paramount chiefs, Osagyefo Dr Kwamena Enimil said the pace of work had not been encouraging and appealed to the contractors to ensure that it is completed on time to ease the discomfort travelers go through.
The engineer for the contractors, Mr. Seidu Bawa, explained that though they had a problem with the issue of compensation it had been dealt with but said the current situation had arisen because they could not get the required rock source in the area.
He said the required rock material had been found at Kwapia in the Ashanti Region, haulage had been sorted out and the government had agreed to bear the cost.
Mr. Bawa said a rock quarry has been established at Ayanfuri and work would start in November.
