Akim Awisa chiefs donate land for community projects

Akim Awisa (E/R), Dec. 31, GNA Nana Kwarteng Karikari III and his elders of Akyem Kotoko Traditional Area have offered a piece of land for the construction of a conference  and an Information, Communication Technology centre.

Nana Karikari who performed the sod-cutting for the commissioning of work said the development of the town had been his great concern.

He appealed to well-meaning citizens of the area, individuals and organization to contribute both in cash and labour for the projects to become a reality for the benefit of the youth as far as technology was concerned.

Mr Kennedy Osei, the Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru estimated the project to cost 220,000 Ghana cedis and asked the people to put their shoulder to the wheel to assist.

In another development, Right Rev. (rtd) Colonel Paul Agyei Breweu, Bishop of the Akim Oda Methodist Diocese had called on leaders of the country to always endeavour to live above reproach.

He said the opposition were there to help make corrections and therefore it was about time people lived holy and responsible lifestyles.

Right Rev Breweu gave the advice during a thanks-giving service by the Akim Awisa Methodist Church for Nana Yaw Twum-Barima Sarkodie I, who was recently enstooled Akwamuhene of the town.

He expressed gratitude to all and sundry for their support and making the occasion successful and assured them of taking up the education of the youth seriously.
