Hohoe (V/R), Dec. 04, GNA - The Electoral Commission has starting mounting platforms for aspiring Assembly members and Unit Committee members for the electoral areas in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region.
The exercise, which began on Tuesday saw aspiring Assembly and Unit Committee members from four electoral areas; Tsevi/Adabraka, Tokoni/Trevi, Tokoni/Blave and Kledzo/Atabu outline their developmental agenda for the various areas.
At the Tokoni/Blave Electoral Area, the aspirants; Mr. Leonard Heh, a Chief Technical Officer at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture at Hohoe, a former Assembly member for the Area and Mr. Derek Adzoe, a Teacher were presented to the electorate.
The third aspirant, Madam Olivia Atimpo, a health worker was absent.
Mr Heh said the three major areas of concern from his electorate, which he worked on during his tenure as an Assembly member for the area were roads, lights and potable water, adding that he had lobbied for the supply of boreholes to most of the communities that faced water challenges.
He said he supervised the construction of town roads within his communities, supply of streetlights to most of the communities and building of classroom blocks for schools in the electoral area.
Mr Heh noted that his position as a Presiding Member of the Assembly’s General Assembly contributed to the successes chalked by the Assembly such as sourcing funds for the construction of a modern market for the Assembly.
He appealed to the electorate to vote for him to continue the projects he had brought to the Assembly and to execute new projects.
Mr Adzoe said he wanted to represent the area to bring more development to the area in collaboration with Non-governmental Organisations (NGOs) adding that he would exhibit a leadership of accountability and integrity.
He said he would organise townhall meetings to account to the electoral areas and also send their grievances and concerns to the Assembly, adding that he would organise regular communal labour to improve sanitation in the electoral area.
Mr Adzoe said he would work with Unit Committee members, when elected and called on the electorate to vote for him.
Mr Joseph Nukpeza, a farmer and one of the six Unit Committee members present noted that most Assembly members do not work with Unit Committees, which was a worry and called on the aspiring Assembly members to engage the Unit when voted for.
He also called on the electorate to give him the nod to represent the Tokoni/Blave Unit again.
Mr. Kwabena Karikari, the Hohoe Municipal Director, Electoral Commission, described the event as successful and urged the aspirants to also mount platforms among themselves and engage electorate on their plans for them.
