By Albert Futukpor, GNA

Tamale, Dec 04, GNA – Female motorcycle mechanics and solar technicians (FeMMSTECH) have undergone a training on entrepreneurship, to learn how to market their businesses and take informed decisions on financial matters to improve on their operations.

The training was also to help the participants to foster responsible attitudes to savings, spending and borrowing, as well as acquire soft skills to help improve their business.

About 30 young females took part in the training, which formed part of a project being undertaken by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) to increase employability of females in the northern part of the country.

The project, which was launched in 2016, equips young women with technical skills that will allow them to succeed in the fast-growing markets of two-wheeled vehicles and photovoltaic appliances.

The participants, as part of the project, went through a year-long training as motorcycle mechanics and solar technicians to increase their employability along the supply chains of the photovoltaic appliances and two-wheeled vehicles – namely in sales, installation, repair, maintenance and service jobs.

Mr Kabutey Doku, an Advisor at the Ghanaian-German Centre, who facilitated the day’s training for FeMMSTECH in Tamale, said it placed participants in a unique position to capture the market and make good income.

Mr Doku advised them to take their businesses seriously by rendering quality service to their clients.

Ms Sibsa Marceline, one of the participants, lauded the training for imparting skills unto the participants to keep them competitive in the industry.
