Farm labourer jailed for stealing telephone cables

Nkawie, (Ash), Dec. 03, GNA – A farm labourer who stole large quantities of telephone cables belonging to Vodafone Ghana, has been sentenced to two years imprisonment by the Nkawie Circuit Court.

Tahiru Ibrahim, was said to have stolen over 40 meters length of telephone cables valued at about GH¢3,000.00, at new Suame, in the Suame Municipality.

He pleaded guilty and was convicted on his own plea by the Court presided over by Mr. Michael Johnson Abbey.

Police Inspector Ruth Gborson, prosecuting, told the Court that the complainant who was a resident of new Suame, who spotted the convict carrying the cables, suspected he had stolen them.

He said the complainant questioned him where he admitted stealing the cables from Vodafone.

The complainant together with other people present at the scene, arrested and handed accused over to the Suame police.

Inspector Gborson said in his cautioned statement to the police, the convict admitted the offence and he was then charged and brought before the Court,
