Court fines trader GH₵ 380 for causing damage

Hohoe (V/R), May 18, GNA - Edith Fasemkye, a 50-year-old trader in the Hohoe market has been fined GH₵ 380.00 by the Hohoe Magistrate Court for causing unlawful damage.

Edith will serve one month imprisonment if she defaults in paying the fine.

She pleaded not guilty to the offence but was later found guilty after the trial.

Prosecuting, Detective Inspector George Doe told the court presided over by Mr. Peter Anongdare that Edith Fasemkye on May 22, 2017 in the Hohoe market threw away a cage containing fowls on the main road, which belonged to one Rebecca Wotsi also a trader in the same market.

He said a car then ran over the cage, which costs GH₵ 200.00 destroying it with some of the fowls escaping from the cage.

Inspector Doe said Rebecca then reported the case to the police, which led to her arrest.
