Tema, May 14, GNA - The Tema West Municipal Assembly has presented various items to local muslim communities to support them throughout the fasting month of Ramadan.

The items included; 35 bags of sugar, 35 boxes of tea bags, 35 cartons of milk, 35 plastic kettles and 15 mats.

Ramadan is the most sacred month on the Muslim calendar reserved for fasting, prayer, meditation and other religious activities.

Mrs Adwoa Amoako, the Municipal Chief Executive, TWMA, making the presentation at the Assembly, said the items were in appreciation of the support of the Muslim communities to the Assembly.

She said the peace and harmony in the Municipality was testament to the fact that “a lot more could be achieved if we collaborated and worked together for the growth of our municipality”.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim Communities, an Assisting Imam at the Lashibi Central Mosque, Mr Seidu Abdul Malik, expressed appreciation for the gesture and applauded the assembly for its efforts and commitment in ensuring mutual and peaceful coexistence in the Municipality.

The Imam noted that Ramadan had been prescribed by Allah in order that believers may attain piety and righteousness for spiritual and social purposes, which should culminate in peaceful and mutual coexistence.
