Ho, Nov. 30 GNA - The United States President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Thursday held a free HIV counselling, screening and testing exercise for traders and transport operators in the Ho Central Market.
Mrs Dzid Enyonam Kwame, PEPFAR Media Specialist, said the activity was to mark the Organization's 10th anniversary in Ghana and to help the country meet the United Nations AIDS Fast Track Goal of 90-90-90.
She said for Ghana to achieve AIDS free generation or total control of the epidemic by 2030, it was imperative for everyone to get tested and know his or her status.
Mrs Kwame noted that HIV was no longer a disease but a condition, which could be managed through the use of Anti- Retroviral (ARV) drug.
Earlier, PEPFAR held a training session on HIV reporting for journalists in Ho, organised HIV symposium at Mawuli School and engaged health workers at the Ho Municipal Hospital on HIV care giving.
The 10th anniversary is on the theme: “Saving lives through American Generosity and partnership”
