Suhum (E/R) Jan 31, GNA – A farmer at Addo-Nkwanta, a farming community near Suhum, has run into trouble with the law over the destruction caused to the crops of another farmer by his strayed animals.

Samuel Ayensu was on Monday put before the Suhum Municipal Court, presided over by Ms. Naomi Akyeanu, charged with willfully permitting his animals to destroy other people’s crops.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and he was sentenced to a fine of GH¢200.00.

He would serve three months in prison should he fail to pay the money.

The Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Stephen Kwadwo Asante, told the court that Ayensu had allowed his sheep to graze on the farm of Mr. Yaw Odei on October 20, last year.

The complainant managed to seize some of the animals and took them to the municipal environmental health office in Suhum to make a formal report.
