Wa, Aug. 29, GNA - The people of Wa-Sombo Electoral Area in the Wa Municipality have congratulated President John Dramani Mahama for nominating Mr Issahaku Nuhu Putiaha as Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
Mr Nyeyela Aziz, Assembly member for the area, said Mr Putiaha™s nomination came at a time when 90 per cent of the people in the municipality anticipated that he was the only one to unify the people for accelerated development.
Speaking on behalf of the people at a news conference in Wa, he assured President Mahama that Mr Putiaha would be duly confirmed devoid of any controversies.
He said Mr Putiaha™s contribution to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in his time as Deputy Constituency Secretary endeared him to the hearts of the people.
Mr Aziz said the nominee was tool for development and the people had no doubt that his nomination would bring joy and happiness to the people and the Upper West Region at large.
He appealed to the nominee to, as a matter of concern, take giant steps towards unifying all groups and factions within the NDC in the municipality.
Mr Aziz appealed to residents to give Mr Putiaha the needed support and the free hand to operate after his confirmation.
He also cautioned him to see his elevation to the office of the MCE as a service to the larger society rather than an avenue for him to enrich himself.
