Ho, Aug. 29, GNA - Mr Kwasi Aboagye, Volta Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on Thursday described Ghanas democracy as insurmountable.
The world must come and learn from us, he said excitedly, following the Supreme Court verdict on the 2012 election petition.
Mr Aboagye was speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the partys Regional Secretariat in Ho shortly after the Court announced the verdict dismissing the election petition file by New Patriotic Party against the declaration of President John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress as winner of the 2012 presidential election.
He said Ghana had learned from history and is gradually developing its democracy par excellence.
Mr Aboagye said the country is following the footsteps of India, which had been touted as a unique democracy.
He said: Writing for BBC on Indias model democracy, Mukul Kesavan said India demonstrated beyond argument that poverty, massive illiteracy and diversity ¦were not arguments against democracy, they were arguments for it.
He urged Ghanaians not to stray from the democratic path.
The Ho Township was generally calm after the verdict apart from a few people who gathered at the NDC Regional Secretariat to jubilate.
Police were visible in the street with some at vantage points including the offices of the NPP and the NDC.
