Accra, Oct 31, GNA “ MilTrac Ghana Limited, an indigenous Ghanaian company, has won Newmont Mining Corporation™s 2013 Africa Region Supplier of the Year Award for its proven commitment to operate safely at reduced operating costs and improved efficiencies.
"MilTrac displayed an excellent safety record, while performing the high risk work of re-lining the mill at our Ahafo Mine," said Dave Schummer, Newmont™s Regional Senior Vice President, Africa Operations, said in a statement in Accra and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
"They also display a commitment to containing costs through increasing performance and delivery, as well as helping to evolve their liner design to minimize mill down-time", the statement signed by Adiki O. Ayitevie, Director, External Affairs and Communications at Newmont quoted Schummer.
"MilTrac has shown a track record of high performance, and is proving itself as a long-term partner of Newmont Ghana. We are pleased that their good work has been recognised with this award,¯ Schummer added.
According to the statement, Dansoa Gallagher, Director and Majority Shareholder of MilTrac Ghana, who received the award on behalf of her company said, her organisation ¯ is strongly committed to employing and training an increasingly national workforce¯.

Nominees are evaluated on their contributions toward creating operating efficiencies, developing strong relationships and embracing Newmont™s values in worker safety, environmental protection and social responsibility.
Newmont Ghana is one of five core operating districts of Newmont Mining Corporation (www.newmont.com), one of the largest gold companies in the world.
Newmont Ghana operates the Ahafo Mine in the Brong-Ahafo Region, and also has a development project, the Akyem Project in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.
The company employs approximately 8,000 employees and contractors, with the majority working at its Ahafo Mine.
