Kumasi, Aug 31, GNA - Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited has presented 500 hundred dustbins to support the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly’s (KMA) towards its Keep the City Clean and Green Sanitation Project.
The donation was the bank’s contribution towards the project to help the city regain its status as the ‘Garden City of West Africa’.
Mr. Julian Kingsley Opuni, the Deputy Managing Director of the bank, speaking during the presentation, said the bank was not only interested in the financial well-being of the people but also their health and environmental comfort.
He said the initiative by the assembly to promote environmental cleanliness and ensure that the people lived in a serene and comfortable atmosphere was laudable and needed the support of all for its success.
Mr Opuni was optimistic that the 500 dustbins would significantly help in reducing insanitary conditions in the Kumasi metropolis, adding that, the bank was opened to further collaborations with the assembly to enhance the development of the metropolis.
He said the bank had also organized several financial literacy programmes for students in tertiary institutions, market women and others, to empower them to make sound financial management decisions in their businesses.
Mr. Osei Assibey Bonsu, Waste Management Officer of KMA, who received the items on behalf of the assembly, said they would be put to good use for the benefit of the people.
He appealed to other corporate organizations, individuals and institutions to come to the aid of the assembly to ensure the success of the project.
