Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Nov 8, GNA – The Ministry of Trade and Industry has given two companies an approval to start production of fertilizer and Gari processing in the Dormaa Central Municipality to feed both the domestic and international markets.
Mr Drissa Ouattara, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE)said stating that the traditional authorities had given the investor a large tract of land at Duasidan, near Dormaa-Ahenkro where the factories would be situated.
Mr Ouattara said this when he addressed a Meet the Press event organised by the Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Bono Region.
The programme highlighted major development activities of the Assembly since 2017 when the New Patriotic Party (NPP)led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo assumed the reigns of government to date.
It was attended by both public and private employees, traditional and religious leaders and the public.
Mr Ouattara said the Gari processing would receive a major boost because of its high demand in the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
“Cote d’Ivoire ships droppings of chickens for fertilizer production and we can also meet the needs of our farmers when we start producing fertilizers from organic matter to improve on their standard of living”, he assured.
The MCE emphasised that the “One District, One Factory” policy of the government was aimed at empowering the private sector to create jobs for the teeming unemployed youth and also address some of the post-harvest losses challenges”.
Touching on the poultry industry in the Municipality, he stated that in 2008, the previous NPP government under former President John Agyekum Kufour started the construction of a Poultry Laboratory at Dormaa-Ahenkro to serve as a functional laboratory to support the poultry industry.
But since then, Mr. Ouattara bemoaned “nothing has been done to continue the project and we have brought it to government’s attention for its completion”.
He enumerated a number of developmental projects embarked on during the period under review.
They included; evacuation, pushing, spreading and leveling of refuse heaps at Gyediem final disposal site and rehabilitation of a Municipal Assembly (M/A) Primary School Three Unit classroom block with office at Kosane.
Others are; rehabilitation of a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Six Unit classroom block with office and store at Dormaa-Ahenkro and the construction of Six-Unit Classroom Block with office, store, staff common room, toilet, urinal and other ancillary facilities for the M/A Primary School at Yawboforkrom.
