Accra, July 25, GNA – Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom the Presidential Candidate for the Progressive People’s Party has called for thoughts, prayers, love and support for the first lady Mrs Ernestina Naadu Mills and their family on the death of President Mills.

President John Atta Mill’s death occurred at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on Tuesday afternoon while receiving medical attention after being taken ill a few hours earlier.

A statement issued in Accra on Wednesday by Dr Nduom said Ghanaians may never understand why their leader has been called to God so soon.

It said Ghanaians must remember that the former President was a faithful servant of God and country.

“We must set aside our personal, political and religious differences as we join hands and mourn this national tragedy as one strong nation,” it noted.

The statement said the Presidential Candidate was suspending his campaign due to the death of the President Mills.

It called on Ghanaians to honour the memory of late President, by acting with honour, grace and an awareness of the sacred fragility of life as they move on in this election year.

“We have transferred power to our new President, John Dramani Mahama, without incident, this has shown the world that we are God-fearing people of laws and ideals,” the statement added.
